Die andere ist das niederl\u00e4ndische Leuwaarden. Das nur am Rand. Dieser Umstand war jedoch nicht der Grund, ein paar Tage auf der Mittelmeerinsel zu verbringen. Der Ausspruch \u2018Ich war schon vor euch da\u2018 ist mir zu billig und passt nun wirklich nicht zu meinen Reisegewohnheiten. Aber und apropos billig. Ein g\u00fcnstiges Reiseangebot f\u00fchrte zu diesem Ausflug. Es h\u00e4tte sonstwo in den S\u00fcden gehen k\u00f6nnen, es war denn aber doch Malta. Bevor also jeder nach Malta jettet, ergab sich so die Gelegenheit, die Insel &#8211; oder zumindest einen Teil davon &#8211; knapp vor dem Kulturhauptstadtged\u00f6ns zu entdecken. Eines dann auch gleich vorweg: Ja, es war sch\u00f6n: das Wetter, der Wind, die Natur, die Kultur, alles. Die Insel ist sehr zu empfehlen und eine Reise wert, erst recht im Winter.<\/p>\n<p>Als die Reise gebucht war, kam mir, wie kann es auch anders sein, direkt die einzig mir bekannte maltesische Indieband in den Sinn. Der Name fiel mir nicht mehr spontan ein, irgendwas mit B und\/oder Bean. Da das Internet alles wei\u00df, wenn man es anst\u00e4ndig fragt, wusste es auch in dieser Frage Bescheid: die <strong>Beangrowers<\/strong>. Der ganze Kram war damals sehr angesagt und als Indieh\u00f6rer konnte ich mich ihm nur schwer entziehen. <strong>Miles<\/strong>, <strong>Ash<\/strong>, ihr Doppelkonzert in der K\u00f6lner Kantine. Toll! \u00dcber diese Umwege kam ich auf die <strong>Beangrowers<\/strong>. \u201eAstroboy\u201c vom ersten Album <em>48k<\/em> mochte und mag ich sehr. Sp\u00e4ter auch \u201eGenzora\u201c. Der Gesang von <strong>Alison Galea<\/strong> erinnerte mich an <strong>Justine Frischmann<\/strong> oder <strong>Shirley Manson<\/strong>, die knackigen Powerpop Songs eben an <strong>Ash<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Vier Alben ver\u00f6ffentlichten <strong>Alison Galea<\/strong>, <strong>Ian Schranz<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Mark Sansone<\/strong>. Bis 2013 waren Konzerte der <strong>Beangrowers<\/strong> im Internet dokumentiert. Als ich es las, hatte ich ein bisschen Hoffnung auf den Zufall, dass sie just dann ein Konzert geben, wenn ich auf Malta bin. So war es aber nicht. Vielleicht gibt es die <strong>Beangrowers<\/strong> auch nicht mehr, auf ihrer Homepage steht dieser Satz:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Listen to new debut album by Beangrowers&#8216; sister band, The Shh, consisting of Alison &amp; Ian<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sieht so aus, als ob die Zeit der <strong>Beangrowers<\/strong> vorbei ist. Auf Malta musste ich dennoch \u00f6fter an die <strong>Beangrowers<\/strong> denken. Leider verga\u00df ich es, im Vorfeld ihre letzten Alben auf meinen IPod zu kopieren. Bei Sonnenschein, 18 Grad und leichtem Mittelmeerwind w\u00e4re es der ideale Soundtrack zum Wandern, d\u00f6sen und laufen gewesen.<\/p>\n<p>Malta ist \u00fcbrigens eine Reise wert! Die Insel ist traumhaft ruhig, schroff und irgendwie liebenswert. Im Winter ist es im Norden, wo unser Hotel lag, sehr einsam. Perfekt, um in Ruhe durchzuatmen und auszuspannen. Im Sommer dagegen ist es sicher zu tourim\u00e4\u00dfig \u00fcberlaufen, f\u00fcrchte ich. Dann brummen die Hotelanlagen vor sonnenhungrigen Menschen und es ist unm\u00f6glich, ein ruhiges Bein auf den Boden zu bekommen. Au\u00dfer am 1. Weihnachtstag klappte es mit den Busverbindungen auch ganz gut, man muss vielleicht ein paar Minuten oder eine halbe Stunde auf den Bus warten, aber Mensch, im Urlaub ist das nicht so schlimm. Da hat man doch Zeit. Also ich schon.<br \/>\nLeider bietet Malta viel zu viel interessante Dinge, als dass man sie in einer knappen Woche alle besuchen k\u00f6nnte. Gozo ist ja auch noch da und verlangte von uns einen Tag.<\/p>\n<p>Ich muss also nochmal hin, nach Malta.
