Ihre Single \u201eShake me down\u201c l\u00e4uft im Formatradio, das zweite Album \u201eThank you, happy birthday\u201c erreichte Platz 2 der US Charts, Cage the elephant sind das, was man angesagt nennt.
\nDie Band aus Bowling Green in Kentucky ist derzeit das nonplusultra im Alternativ-Grunge-90s-Rock. Ihr erstes Album klingt nach Grunge (ich rede mir ja eh seit Tagen ein, Cage the elephant seien die Nirvana2010), ihr zweites nach den Pixies, womit alles gesagt und alles umrissen worden ist.<\/p>\n

\u201eIm Grunde sind Cage The Elephant eine Band ohne Szene, spielen sie doch Indie-Rock mit einem erstaunlichen H\u00e4ndchen f\u00fcr Pop-Hooks, sind dabei aber ganz eindeutig nicht Indie-Pop! Denn die Einfl\u00fcsse liegen klar auf ihrer Seite des Atlantik: die Leitsterne der f\u00fcnf Amerikaner aus Kentucky sind der Indie-Rock der fr\u00fchen 90er oder gar Grunge ohne dessen elendes Emogejammere.
\nAlle Songs auf \u201eThank You Happy Birthday\u201c sind kurz, knackig, krachig, bersten vor Energie und einer Freude am Spielen. Cage The Elephant m\u00f6gen uns textlich keine neue Einsichten in die Weltgeschichte bescheren und sind sicherlich nicht sophisticated, aber H\u00f6lle, was f\u00fcr ein Spa\u00df! Thank You, Weiterfeiern.\u201c<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Das sagt die taz in ihrem popblog<\/a> und sie hat recht.
\nGefeiert wurde auch im Luxor, und zwar in einer Art und Weise, wie man es selten sieht in K\u00f6ln. Bereits nach 2:23 Minuten lag S\u00e4nger Matt Schultz auf den H\u00e4nden der ersten Reihen, nach weiteren f\u00fcnf klebten die langen Haare an seiner Stirn und irgendwann nach 12 Minuten waren Band und Publikum ziemlich verschwitzt. Die \u00fcbrigen 40 Minuten Konzert waren ein einziges Gehopse und Mitgesinge.
\nAch, es war ein tolles Konzert und Bilder sagen an einem regnerischen Samstag mehr als Worte. Dreimal gucken, alles wissen:<\/p>\n
