Ich streame keine Musik, habe weder Spotify noch Apple Music noch Deezer Accounts. Auch bin ich gerade erst kurz davor, mir erstmals ein Netflix Abo zu holen. Aber das ist eine andere Geschichte. <br><strong>Night Beats<\/strong>. Die Band. Sie er\u00f6ffnen an diesem Abend vor dem <strong>Black Rebel Motorcycle Club<\/strong> im den Atelier in Luxemburg. Psychedelic Texas Rock, Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Garage Rock. <strong>Danny Rajan Billingsley<\/strong>, S\u00e4nger, Gitarrist und einziges all time Bandmitglied, tr\u00e4gt Cowboyhut und Portemonnaie Kette. Zusammen mit Bassist und Schlagzeuger spielt er ureigenste amerikanische Rockmusik. Es stampft und schwitzt aus den Boxen und sorgt musikalisch f\u00fcr einen guten Einstieg in den Abend, an dem <strong>Black Rebel Motorcycle Club<\/strong> sp\u00e4ter dann ihr \u00e4hnlich musikalisch gelagertes Album <em>Howl <\/em>in G\u00e4nze spielen werden. <br>Doch bevor das passiert, schaut <strong>Robert Levon Been<\/strong> schon mal kurz bei den <strong>Night Beats<\/strong> vorbei und begleitet das Trio bei einem Song an der Gitarre und bei einem zweiten Song am Klavier. Nach guten 50 Minuten und damit sehr langer Vorbandspielzeit beenden <strong>Night Beats <\/strong>um viertel vor neun ihr Set. Mittlerweile ist das den Atelier gut gef\u00fcllt. An diesem Abend wird es ausverkauft sein und damit eine von sehr vielen <strong>Black Rebel Motorcycle Club<\/strong> Shows der<em> Howl 20th anniversary Tour<\/em>, die ausverkauft sind. Warum ist das so? 2018 erschien ihr bisher letztes Album, <em>Wrong creatures<\/em>. Seinerzeit waren sie auch letztmals in Mitteleuropa live zu sehen. Ist das ein Grund? Oder ist es vielmehr das Verlangen und die Freude, ihr drittes Album <em>Howl <\/em>live zu h\u00f6ren? Ich vermute, beides. <em>Howl <\/em>ist das dritte Album der amerikanischen Band, ver\u00f6ffentlicht 2005. Es ist ein Album, das polarisiert, vielleicht sogar irritiert. Auf den beiden Vorg\u00e4ngern <em>B.R.M.C.<\/em> (2001) und <em>Take them on, on your own<\/em> (2003) waren der <strong>Black Rebel Motorcycle Club<\/strong> eine Rockband zwischen <strong>The Strokes <\/strong>und den <strong>Dandy Warhols<\/strong>. \u201eWhatever happened to my Rock\u2019n\u2019Roll?\u201c hei\u00dft ein Song auf der Deb\u00fctplatte und ich m\u00f6chte meinen, <strong>Black Rebel Motorcycle Club<\/strong> spielen ihn einfach, damit ihm nicht noch mehr passiert. Dicke Gitarren, speckige Lederjacken und <strong>Jesus and Mary Chain<\/strong>-eske Indierockmelodien. Dark-Country, Folk, Bluesrock. Oder wie die Visions seinerzeit schrieb: Blues mit Bart. Und das passt auch, obwohl weder <strong>Robert Levon Been<\/strong> noch <strong>Peter Hayes <\/strong>Bart tragen. Letzteren sieht man an diesem Abend \u00fcbrigens kaum. Zum einen h\u00e4ngt ihm die Kapuze seines Hoodies tief im Gesicht, zum anderen ist es arg dunkel im den Atelier. Wenn Licht, dann stroboscoped es in hellem wei\u00df aus Bodenscheinwerfern oder es taucht die B\u00fchne diffus in dunkles rot oder blau. <em>Howl <\/em>ist also anders, und genau hier liegt der Reiz des Konzerts. Sie beginnen mit \u201eDevils waitin\u201c und damit ist klar, sie spielen die Songs des Albums nicht in Reihe. Erstmals schallen Akustikgitarre, leiernder Gesang und Countrymelodien durch den Saal. Im Folgenden \u201eShuffle your feet\u201c kommt dann noch die Mundharmonika dazu. Lagerfeuerromantik auf der Dutton Ranch. <strong>Black Rebel Motorcycle Club<\/strong> bluesrocken sich durch den Abend. \u201eComplicated Situation\u201c lassen sie als einzigen Song vom Album aus, spielen daf\u00fcr \u201eMercy\u201c von der dem <em>Howl <\/em>Album begleitenden <em>Howl Sessions EP<\/em>. Ein sch\u00f6ner Singersongwriter Popsong, den <strong>Robert Levon Been <\/strong>solo performt. Mit dem 13. Song des Konzerts (\u201eThe line\u201c) ist das Album durchgespielt. Doch es folgen noch sieben weitere Songs. Ab jetzt wird es lauter und rockiger. Zum Beispiel mit \u201eSpread your love\u201c und \u201eRed eyes and tears\u201c vom Deb\u00fctalbum <em>B.R.M.C.<\/em> Auch \u201eConscience Killer\u201c stampft ordentlich. Leider fehlen jetzt \u201eStop\u201c und \u201eWhatever happened to my Rock &#8217;n&#8216; Roll\u201c. Interessanterweise steht auch kein aktueller Song (sprich von den letzten beiden Alben) auf der Setlist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Den Abend beschlie\u00dft \u201eOpen invitation\u201c, der hidden track auf <em>Howl<\/em>. Schnell danach geht das Saallicht an und zu <strong>Velvet Undergrounds<\/strong> \u201eRide into the sun\u201c werden wir hinauskomplimentiert. Und was bleibt mir nun von diesem Abend und von <em>Howl<\/em>? Nun, ich sag\u2019 mal so: das Album ist verdammt gut gealtert und klingt auch 2025 recht fresh.
